Our cable boxes are usually sealed with conventional silicone, acrylic or any other permanently elastic sealing material. The holes in the caps are cut roughly the same size as the amount of space taken away by the cables. Any gaps left between the cap and the cables or the cap and the box are sealed with silicone afterwards.
The material is squeezed into the gaps with a special gripper. As the caps only warrant the smoke sealing the materials used do not need to be fire proof. The quality of the permanently elastic sealing material is very important. We recommend our Ködisil N silicone cartridges. It is free from solvents, permanently elastic and very volume stable. If required the boxes may be supplied insulated ready to install e.g. as for a reserve fire-stop for future use.
In special cases where the boxes are used in food industry or in paintshops or paint-spray lines silicone is not allowed and other sealants such as acryl, Tendonol, etc. should be used.
